A 4 Year-Old Fighting Cancer 'Married' Her Favorite Nurse In An Adorable Ceremony
July 27, 2015
Abby is currently a patient at Melodies Center for Childhood Cancers in Albany, New York. The 4 year-old is battling pre-B cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia - a form of leukemia that mostly affects children.
During her stay, Abby developed a wonderful relationship with her favorite nurse, Matt Hickling. So wonderful, that she decided she wanted to marry him.
After Abby told her mom about the plans to marry Matt, she called him before their next appointment to see if he was on board.
Matt agreed and immediately went into planning mode. With the help of coworkers, Matt was able to put together a little wedding for sweet Abby.
Notice the rings.
Matt shared on Facebook:
"This day will hopefully be one our patient and her family can always look back on and smile when days are tough! I know I will!"
Watch the heartwarming video below:
So today I got to help make a 4 year old leukemia patient's "wedding" to her favorite nurse Matt Hickling happen at the Melodies Center for Childhood Cancers at AMC. Thanks to Scott Wright and the team at the Enchanted Garden for donating your time and amazing flowers and to everyone at AMC that helped pull this together in less than 24 hours. You people are amazing. THIS is why we go into nursing.
